As the name implies, Aqua Sapphire is a unique marine perfume, inspired by eternal seas and island nations. Head notes are awash with tropical pineapple, rum, saffron and boozy davana. A seaweed note in the heart is allied to classic Rose de Mai and soft woody musks. Seaweed has facets of iodine and salt, and these are subtly rolled through the surf of materials in Aqua Sapphire hinting at hidden depths. Cypriol has a bitter herbal quality and is used in the base notes suggesting beach fires glowing in the dark as flowers dream and the sea whispers. Soft mosses, vanilla and ambered woods reinforce Aqua Sapphire's stylish take on the ozonic fragrances that dominated the 90s, playing rich liqueur gourmand notes against the romance of roses and the freshness of coastal sea spray.
